Join us in the heart of Miltown Malbay for the official launch of the Miltown Malbay Heritage Trail, a unique and accessible digital journey through the town’s rich cultural, historical, and social heritage.
The launch takes place at the Miltown Malbay Community Centre with the overview of the project by the MMCEClg. This will be followed by an introduction to the trail by historian and developer Dr. John Treacy, who will present the story behind the creation of this innovative trail. Learn how the 22-points of interest walking
route combines traditional storytelling with modern technology via QR codes, Braille, and captioned audio guides, making heritage accessible to all.
Following the talk, participants will be invited on a guided tour of selected trail locations, where local landmarks, murals, and blue plaques will be brought to life
through narrated history, anecdotes and digital interpretation. The Church of Ireland Kilfarboy Graveyard in the centre of the town is included
in the trail.
